Launched in late 2010 by some of the same folks behind Kreuzberg homo staple Möbel-Olfe (just across Kotti, or Kottbusser Tor), Südblock already offers up a solid -- and neighborhood-appropriately eclectic -- slate of daily parties, including Monday's Erntefest (Harvest Fest), Thursday's Flittschenbar (presented by musician/journalist Christiane Rösinger), Friday's Kottywood (its name an ironic nod to the gentrification of the 'hood), and Sunday's Frühe Vögel (Early Birds) DJ brunch. The stage allows for the odd live show, lesbian poetry slam, or leftist political speech, and the cafe serves up light victuals daily from 10am.
