As the city’s oldest gay bar, the Barfüsser (the name derives from monks and means “no shoes on”) was a meeting point for gay men as far back as the 1950s. But old does not mean old-fashioned: Ten years ago, the place transformed into a stylish bar and lounge, becoming a mixed place for gays, lesbians and straight allies thanks to the addition of a popular sushi restaurant. Weekends find the post-cinema crowd having a drink here before moving on to the clubs.
